Egypt deployed about 800 troops in the Sinai Peninsula:

Israel allowed the mobilization of 800 Egyptian soldiers to reinforce security of the zone, at a time when protests seeking to overthrow President Hosni Mubarak extend across the country, Israeli officials said.

Permission was granted following a request from Cairo. Troops have been deployed around the resort Sharm el-Sheikh, South Sinai Peninsula, spokespersons confirmed that Israel had given its approval to the Egyptian request.

Between Israel and Egypt there is a vast desert, and a large part of this territory is demilitarized, according to the 1979 peace treaty between both countries.

Israel Radio said: "Israel turns its eyes to the other side", meanwhile Egypt put forces in the Sinai "in this way is expected to ensure the situation and not get out of control" in that place.

The last time Israel allowed to Cairo to move forces into Sinai, was when Israel pulled its troops from Gaza in 2005, and Egypt placed border guards to prevent weapons smuggling by Palestinian militants.

Egypt was the first Arab country to sign a peace treaty with Israel in 1979. Peace agreement that the forces opposed to Mubarak reject among other things. Under the agreement, Israel withdrew its troops from Sinai desert that had been captured in the Middle East war of1967. Israel completed its withdrawal in 1982. The Treaty of Peace between Israel and Egypt, and the demilitarization of the area has contributed to secure much of the western border of Israel, and it has prevented the loss of Israeli lives.
